Talking Teletext has become the information and entertainment centre for more and more sight impaired people. TALKING TELETEXT has given visually impaired people ready access to the useful stream of news and entertainment constantly broadcast by teletext. Using a friendly "speaking" keyboard you can select any page and hear its contents spoken by a clear conversational voice synthesiser. There is an oral facility for scanning each page line by line, word by word - and even spell out words. The information can be stored on a computer or printed out in plain language or Braille.
This equipment has won unsolicited praise from all quarters. In 1991 PORTSET was presented with the David Scott Blackhall Award for services to the blind by BBC's "In Touch" radio programme, as well as being bought for personal use. Many of the units have been installed for use by visually impaired people at schools, hostels and libraries.

CUSTOMISING This gives you the facility of selecting which page Talking Teletext will
seek immediately you change the channel.
CONTINUOUS LINE UPDATE. Select your page and then select you line and every time it changes Talking Teletext will speak the line again. For those people who want to keep upto date with the Cricket score or the Share price this is an absolute must.
CONTINUOUS READ. Unlike normal teletext where you only hold 1 page at a time, Talking Teletext will capture all the sub-pages and store them in memory. Continuous Read enable you to have all the sub-pages read to you as a continuous text without the headers etc. This is a must for such things as in depth news and perhaps the "SOAP" on teletext.
SERIAL AND PARALLEL PORTS:- To any of the above models Serial and Parallel ports can be added. This allows any of the information to be down loaded to a compatible computer and therefore be retained in memory. A further benefit is being able to print in large text or braille. £110.00 ex VAT
