Daisy Audio Player.
|
The Portset Daisy Player
is a software solution that can be installed on a Windows based computer and
will provide the playing of Daisy format audio books.

Daisy is a world standard
for the transcription of books into an audio format which allows a user to hear
the book from the recorded audio. Books are supplied on a CD and contains the
audio in a compressed format called MP3.
Whilst the recordings are
in the common MP3 format the Daisy concept does not use the recorded files in a
continuous playing order. Instead the producer of the CD can control how the
sections are played, thereby maintaining some encryption capability.
The Daisy format uses
sequenced recorded segments which are played under control of the software. The
Portset Daisy Player examines the producers control sequences and then creates
the true audio reproduction.
The Portset Daisy Player
provides voiced commands using voice synthesis.

The voiced commands and
instructions from voice synthesis can be either a Sapi4 or Sapi5 voice which is
normally supplied as part of the computer or using Portset high quality voice,
Jane.
Portset’s Daisy Player is
one of the lowest priced players on the market.
supplied on CD of either Sapi compliant or a version with Jane as the
instruction and information voice.
The Full version of
the Portset Daisy Reader will remember up to 5 previous books you have been
reading and offer you a range of book marks that will allow you to go to any
past position.

The Portset Daisy Reader is very easy to use
with spoken instructions and a few key commands. Facilities of book marking
include returning to any previous section or chapter or from the beginning of
the book. At any time you stop playing the book, a book mark is made so the you
can return to this position automatically.
